Codes of Conduct

What we expect from players, parents/carers and coaches.

Football is for fun. These codes help everyone enjoy it. All players, parents/carers and coaches agree to follow them when they join.

Players

  • Play fair, follow the rules and respect the referee's decisions.
  • Be a good sport - win or lose, shake hands and say well done.
  • Treat team-mates, opponents, coaches and officials with respect.
  • Never use bad language, bully or make fun of others.
  • Look after kit and equipment, and arrive on time.
  • Tell a coach or the Welfare Officer if you are worried or unhappy about anything.

Parents and carers

  • Support the whole team, not just your own child. Praise effort as well as results.
  • Stay behind the barrier or in the designated spectator area, and let the coaches coach.
  • Never shout at, criticise or abuse players, coaches, referees or other spectators.
  • Respect the referee. Any concerns should be raised calmly with the coach after the game.
  • Make sure your child is dropped off and collected on time.
  • Do not take or share photographs of other people's children without their permission.

Coaches and managers

  • Put the welfare and enjoyment of children before winning.
  • Treat every child fairly and give all players fair playing time.
  • Set a good example in language and behaviour.
  • Follow the club's Safeguarding Children Policy at all times.
  • Hold the qualifications and checks required by the club and The FA.
  • Never use or tolerate physical, verbal or emotional abuse.
